Research

This Practice is Research Active

Did you know that clinical research takes place at this GP Practice? The Research Site Initiative is a scheme for all GP practices in the East Midlands to engage in clinical research. There are 4 levels, with the highest (Level 4) being the one requiring the greatest commitment from the practice. Elmswood Surgery are a Level 4 practice.

We’re proud to give our patients the opportunity to take part in research here so that together we can develop new treatments and medicines for the future. There are many different types of research available for people to take part in.

Last year more people took part in research in primary care settings (such as GP practices) in the East Midlands than in any other part of England. Join them, and help us to improve healthcare.

When we are told about research studies we invite patients to join in the research, so you may get a personal invitation.  If we invite you to take part in a study, please consider doing so. Recent studies have shown that the overwhelming majority of people have a positive experience of research.

We would like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who has taken part in research at the practice – you really have made a difference!

You can opt out of receiving research related text invitations, please let us know. Alternatively, you can search for research taking place near you here

Here are two short videos explaining why you may wish to consider taking part in research:
